While most shishitos - Japanese green peppers with a delightfully sweet and grassy flavor - are mild, one in every 10 or so has a fiery bite, which lends a dose of adventure every time they’re eaten. Often served simply blistered as an bar snack, we also love them stir fried with tender strips of beef, bound together with garlic, ginger, and a sweet and savory miso + sesame sauce, served over steamed rice and finished with a squeeze of bright fresh lemon.
