Though the name translates from Korean as “fire meat,” the savory-sweet flavors of this beloved dish - usually made with beef or pork - translate perfectly to cubes of tofu, fried crisp then quickly simmered in a mildly spicy tamari + sesame sauce with garlic, ginger, oyster mushrooms, and carrots, served over steamed rice and drizzled with a gochujang sauce, with a cooling cucumber salad on the side.
