Popularized by star chef Jean-George Vongerichten and found on high-end restaurant menus throughout the land, this decadent dessert - a thin shell of chocolate cake encasing an oozing, warm, and rich dark chocolate center - is deceptively easy to make, relying on just a simple batter and a brief stint in a hot oven, and they can be prepared for baking far in advance. We serve ours drizzled with a simple raspberry coulis and topped with sweetened whipped cream, and include two 4oz mason jars for baking. While this recipe is designed for 2, it is easily scalable to serve more diners.
